Sample Itinerary
Itinerary for Our Warm Weather 13er (a mountain at 13,000 feet altitude or taller) Summit
All itineraries need to placed into a context. The kids would have been six years old at the time. Of course, this would be a winter hike and the route was at an altitude fluctuating between about 10,400 and 11,600 feet. The trip was along a defined trail, but after after a fresh snow; so we all sunk down our steps a bit, and there was some mild trail breaking. It was a short day, so we carried water. As always, we would follow Leave-No-Trace principles. Conditions were sunny and dry, but chilly with winds 10-15mph.
